About Helen
Helen is a painter and a potter. She grew up on a farm in County Limerick and now lives in Kilkenny. She holds a Degree in Ceramic Design from Limerick College of Art and worked as manager of Nicholas Mosse Pottery in Kilkenny for 25 years.
Helen now devotes her time to painting in acrylics and mixed media such as soft pastels and pigmented inks.
She brings her pottery skills to her artwork by hand-making the canvases on which she paints by reconstituting scrap newspaper. She enjoys the tactile process involved in making the paper canvases as it feels akin to working with clay.
Her paintings are inspired by the beauty of the wild Irish landscape, mountains and rivers surrounding her where she lives. Realism and some level of abstraction will often be found residing side by side in her paintings.
Fine Art reproductions of Helen’s original paintings are now also available. Using modern hi-resolution scanning techniques, many of Helen’s original paintings have been reproduced as Fine Art Giclée Prints. These are high-quality, museum-standard prints which are printed on archival paper with fade-resistant archival inks. This means that the prints will not fade.
